Nebraska Concealed Handgun Permit Course

This 8-hour course has been approved by the Nebraska State Patrol as having the curriculum needed for the participant to meet the training requirements to obtain a Nebraska Concealed Handgun Permit. The course is comprised of both 6 hours of classroom time (lecture) and 2 hours of range time (shooting practice and shooting qualification test).

This class is NOT a basic handgun course. It is expected that registrants will already be very familiar with the safe operation of their handgun. If you are not comfortable shooting and safely manipulating your firearm, you MUST participate in a Basic Handgun Course prior to participating in this course.

Topics Covered

Ways to avoid a criminal attack and to defuse or control a violent confrontation.
Situational awareness.
Safe handling of a handgun and ammunition.
Concealed carry techniques.
Proper storage practices for handguns and ammunition.
Safe handgun shooting fundamentals: stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control.
Federal, state, and local laws pertaining to the purchase, ownership, transportation, and possession of handguns.
Federal, state, and local laws pertaining to the use of a handgun for self-defense and laws related to justifiable homicide and the various degrees of assault.
Shoot or don't shoot decision making.
Competency through practical application with a handgun (range: training and test).
Competency through a written test.

Fee and Registration
The fee for the course is $175 (no credit cards; only check or cash).  The fee includes the classroom/range time, a thorough 162-page course manual AND numerous resourceful pertinent articles and other reference sources. Registration and payment must be received no later than 1 week prior to the course date so that course materials can be prepared in time for the class. Reservations for the class is on a first-registered/paid basis; should all of the openings in the class be filled by the time your registration and payment is received, you will be notified.

Process
   1. Complete the online registration form (click here) and click the "SUBMIT" button.
   2. Mail the check or money order to the address above at least 1 week prior to the class date.
   3. You will receive a confirmation of your class reservation after the registration form and payment are
        received.
NOTE: Before you register, visit the Nebraska State Patrol's website (click here) regarding their expectations and disqualifications for obtaining a Nebraska Concealed Handgun Permit. EverReadyCCW and its instructor will not be held legally, morally, or financially responsible if you do not qualify for the permit based on the results of the Nebraska State Patrol's background check.

Bring the following to the classroom:

An open mind.
Notepad and pen/pencil.
Your Nebraska driver's license or Military ID or Nebraska State Photo ID.
A lunch and water/non-alcoholic beverage. (NOTE: depending upon the class/range locations, there may or may not be any restaurants nearby.)
The handgun that you intend to carry concealed. It MUST be either a semi-automatic handgun or a revolver. (NOTE: when you come to the classroom, the handgun MUST BE UNLOADED and in either a case, gun bag, or range bag.)

Bring the following to the range:

The handgun that you intend to carry concealed. It MUST be either a semi-automatic handgun or a double-action revolver. (NOTE: when you come to the range, the handgun MUST BE UNLOADED and in either a case, gun bag, range bag or holster.)
At least two (2) magazines that hold a minimum of 6 rounds for semi-automatic handguns, or at least two (2) speed loaders for revolvers.
100 rounds of factory ammunition. (NOTE: Reloaded ammunition will NOT be allowed.)
A holster appropriate for your handgun. It must be positioned only for your strong side hip (located on the hip side of your dominant/shooting hand). It MUST completely cover the trigger of your handgun. (NOTE: Cross-draw, shoulder, small of the back, pocket, and appendix holsters will NOT be allowed. Flexible/collapsible holsters will NOT be allowed.)
An appropriate strong belt that will adequately support both your holster and your handgun when holstered.
Appropriate cover garment/clothing from which you can draw your concealed handgun.
Appropriate ear and eye protection.
If an outdoor range is used, wear clothing appropriate for the weather as the range portion of the class proceeds whether it's hot, cold, raining, or snowing.
